Google reviews can also help new customers find your business. Not only do they show potential customers that you’re a reputable company, but they also help you gain credibility and rank higher in the SERPs (search engine results pages). In fact, according to Mailchimp, “The more reviews a business receives, especially positive ones, the more likely it is to rank higher in Google’s search listings.” Google reviews can also help improve your SEO.

Tips for Getting More Google Reviews 

1. Make it easy for customers to leave a Google review.

The simpler you make the review process, the more likely customers are to leave their feedback. You can create a direct Google review link using your Google Business Profile. You can then add that link to your business’s email signature, website footer, and thank-you pages. You can also text customers after a purchase asking them to leave a Google review.

2.Create a dedicated reviews page on your website. 

According to WordStream, when your business dedicates a full website page for customer reviews, “it not only encourages prospects to become a customer, but it also gives that added inspiration for an existing customer to leave a review.”

3. Ask at the right time.

Timing matters when asking for reviews. The best time to ask is when a customer’s positive experience is still fresh, like right after they’ve had a great encounter with your customer service team or made a repeat purchase of a product or service. 

4. Personalize your request.

Avoid generic messages like “Please leave us a review.” Personalize your message so it feels genuine. If possible, mention the product or service they recently purchased.

5. Leverage email marketing.

If you already send follow-up or thank-you emails after purchases, you can also use them to politely ask for reviews. 

This is also where having that direct Google review link in your email signature can come in handy. According to WordStream, “adding a link to review your business on Google in your email signature is a great way to ask for more Google reviews without actually asking!” 

6. Promote customer reviews on social media.

Encourage happy customers to leave Google reviews by sharing positive feedback on your social channels. When followers see others sharing great experiences, they’re more likely to contribute their own. 

7. Respond to every review, good or bad.

Showing appreciation for customer feedback encourages others to share their experiences, too. According to WordStream, it lets customers know that you actually “listen to customer feedback, and that it’s worth their time to write their own review.” 

Respond promptly to all reviews, even negative ones. Thank positive reviewers for their support, and address negative feedback professionally and with empathy. Current and potential customers will notice how you handle criticism. A thoughtful response demonstrates that your business values customer input and is committed to improvement. 8. Don’t offer incentives for leaving reviews. 

While it’s tempting to offer discounts or freebies in exchange for Google reviews, this actually violates Google’s review policy. Incentivized reviews can get flagged and removed. And, this can hurt your credibility.
