Holiday Marketing Tips

Holiday Marketing

While the holiday season is often a very busy time of year for businesses, it’s also a great time to ramp up your marketing efforts.

Did you know that two-thirds of all annual seasonal spending happens during the Christmas season. At the end of the day, people are in a buying mood during the holidays and want to spend their money. However, in order to be successful and get those sales, your holiday marketing needs to be done right. Here are some great holiday marketing tips.

Send a “Happy Holidays” email.

Like we said in a previous blog post, the holidays are a great time to show your clients and prospects that you genuinely care about them and that they aren’t just a dollar sign to your business. So, go ahead, send that “Happy Holidays” email to your current clients and potential ones wishing them a wonderful holiday season. Send out a “Happy New Year!” newsletter.

The beginning of the year is a great time to send out a newsletter telling your existing customers what’s new with your business and wishing them a Happy New Year. Not only are newsletters a great way to get your brand in front of customers who haven’t made a purchase in quite some time, but they can also be a cost-effective marketing strategy, especially when you send an electronic newsletter. Run a special holiday promotion.

People love deals! According to Small Business Trends, if you have an online store, even something as simple as free shipping can “be a very effective way to get more customers to actually purchase from you during the holiday season.” You can also offer other discounts during the holidays, like:

  • Buy one get one free
  • Buy one get one half off
  • A certain percentage off of all orders, like 10% or 20%
  • Free gift with purchase
  • Gift card promotions, like spend $50 on gift cards, get a $10 gift card for yourself

Another thing to consider when running any special holiday promotions is to take advantage of all of the special shopping days during the holidays, like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Small Business Saturday.

Leverage your social media channels.

When marketing during the holidays, don’t forget to leverage your social media channels. Social media is a powerful marketing tool, especially for the B2C crowd.

If you decide to run a holiday promotion, promote it using ads on Facebook or LinkedIn. If your business offers products and services that would make great Christmas gifts, create a “gift idea” post on Pinterest. Post pictures of any products and services people can purchase as gifts on Instagram.

You can also leverage your social media channels during the holidays by posting holiday themed content or by running holiday contests.

Update your website to reflect the holiday season.

Small Business Trends suggests decorating your website to show off your business’s holiday spirit by adding holiday themed images to your website. You can even update your logo using holiday imagery by adding snowflakes or Christmas ornaments.
